Madala 16 Apartment Building

The building features a solid, contextually fitting design with a gradient facade and warm wooden accents on human-scale surfaces. Tallinn, 2018

The essence of the building stems primarily from the desire to create a solid and contextually fitting architectural volume. The main facade finishing options include either a single-layer external wall panel with an insulated plaster surface or a three-layer external wall panel with a concrete surface. In both cases, the facade color transitions in a downward gradient, from the darkest shade on the top floor to the lightest shade on the ground floor.

Parking level surfaces are envisioned as exposed natural concrete. To emphasize the need for more detailed treatment of human-scale contact surfaces, all loggia walls are planned to be clad with warmly toned wooden paneling.
